Color Scarf
Finished the colorful scarf with the bulky yarn. It's not very long, but will be good to just wear around the back of the neck, then either overlap inside the front of a coat, or wear loose.

Warm and Colorful
Found a poor, lone skein of colorful Lion Brand Wool-ease Thick-and-quick at wallyworld recently. There were lots of other dark and neutral colors, but this colorful skein was all by itself. To me with my "western" mind set, these colors seemed to say "southwestern" or "cowgirl," reminding me of those old-timey Navajo blankets with the big, colorful stripes.
(Image from the web, www.etsy.com, "Vintage Pendleton Glacier Park Blanket.")
I could just picture this yarn as a scarf with a denim jacket or such. (Name of color is "Hudson Bay.")
Started a garter stitch scarf on size 11 needles.
But I felt the stitches were a bit "dense," and not much "give," so I ripped back and started it again on size 15 needles.
So far so good, and it's working up quickly. So much, that I got two more skeins (one each of two different colors) for something more to work on. On the left is "Sequoia," and on the right is "Oatmeal."
If it's a cold winter, WE'RE GONNA NEED SCARVES. Especially scarves with even a little wool in them.

Dishcloths
Finally got all the ends woven in on the dishcloths.
Closeups:
Hopefully, I'll take them to the local handcrafts store tomorrow, and see how they do. Still have a lot of cotton yarn, so will be making more. It's a nice thing to sit down and do in the evenings, just a little easy knitting after chores are caught up.

Evening Knitting
This evening's dishcloth project. Nice to just relax and knit, even if it's small and uncomplicated.

Color Match
Finished the pink dishcloth, so started another one. Sat down and realized how much this yarn "matched" my skirt in colors. I made this skirt 'way back when I was around high school age or so. Didn't really like it then, so didn't wear it for a long time, but have enjoyed wearing it these last several years. Colors: Blue, green, white, lavender and pink. the pink in the yarn is barely there, between lavender and white colors, but there is a faint hint of pink at that spot.

Fair Entry
The last three days were our local fair. I just flat didn't do much this last year in the way of "creativeness." Nor did I feel like baking. But I did get the "groovy-ghan" afghan finished at one point, so I entered that. Early on Thursday morning, before work, I took it over and got it entered .... my lone entry at the fair this year.
Later that afternoon, all the exhibits were judged, then we were able to go in the community building and see the results. I got a red ribbon! That's second in the class, and a $5 premium.
But I noticed that after they judged it, they folded it wrong-side out, so the back side was showing. So I re-folded it, and later got another picture of it.
Ah, that's better.
Then I have a tradition, that after picking up the exhibits on Saturday, I bring them home and take pictures of everything. Of course this year it's just the one thing, but with a ribbon and some money.
Maybe if I start planning NOW, and get in gear, I can have a little more to enter next year!

When the Power Goes Out .....
When the power goes out due to a storm (last night), and it's evening, and you want something to do, you might knit by lamplight.

Looks Like ...
The first three sections of this current Abstract Cats afghan I'm working on (three colors of the six I'll use) makes me think of ...
... Neapolitan ice cream ...
... or maybe that striped, flat taffy. I can't see this taffy that I don't think of the town swimming pool in the summer when I was a kid.
(Neapolitan ice cream and taffy pictures from the web.)

Surrounded
I think I'm surrounded with enough yarn, as I sit here in my big chair by the window. Brown granny square "throw" around my shoulders, it's a cold, blustery day, and sitting by this window is chilly. Same for the big blue-and-white granny square throw on my lap, just helping me stay warm. The bright fuschia with the purple-blue variegated is the start of an "abstract cats" afghan, getting the pattern back in my fingers in preparation for another one I'll start this week for a requested project. Had been awhile, so thought I'd better get in practice with the crochet hook again. This one in the picture will just end up as a personal afghan, using scraps. By my feet is the "groovy-ghan," will probably add a few rows to it while I'm at it.

Back At It With the Groovy-ghan
The "groovy-ghan" has been sitting in its satchel for quite awhile. Probably months. Got it out yesterday and started in on it again while Hubby had an appointment. Continuing along, looking good, still has a ways to go to be long enough.
