Variety
Without saying how many projects I have in the works right now, I thought it would be interesting to show three projects, each having a completely different yarn. In this first photo, left to right, are a sock, a pillow front, and a baby blanket.
This is the sock, which uses "sock yarn," which is very thin. I feel like I'm knitting with thread.
For the pillow, it uses a more "regular" yarn. I LOVE knitting with this half-wool-half-acrylic yarn on bamboo needles.
Then, I just started this baby blanket. It calls for a VERY PLUSH "chenille" yarn. It was very laborious to knit at first, even with it being very soft. But now that I've done more on it, it's getting easier. It will sure be nice for a baby to lay on!
Here are the three yarns side-by-side, for comparison.

Sock Progress
THE SOCK is actually making progress. After THREE STARTS, I've finally reached the end of the 2-inch cuff section. Now I'm ready to knit for 5 inches. Then ... the dreaded heel flap. But at least for now, I can just knit. (Wooden DPNs on loan from my teacher, that she made out of small dowel rod material. Very lightweight and comfortable.)
I got so inspired by how this brown sock is finally coming along, that I started another one in the green-blue sock yarn I had on hand. I intend to do this one "parallel" to the other one, here at home. Then hopefully I can surprise my teacher when I get the first sock done, and have a SECOND one to show her as well. :D tee hee! (Orange metal DPNs that were my mom's. Don't know if she ever made anything on them or not, but just knowing they were hers makes me happy.)
